I’m a writer-turned-photographer-turned-multimedia journalist, but, as you will see here, I’m most comfortable and effective producing video features and short documentaries on a wide variety of subjects.
I spent more than a decade living in Dakar, Senegal and reporting throughout West and Central Africa for The BBC, The New York Times, GlobalPost, Al Jazeera, Voice of America, CNN, as well as many humanitarian organizations and foundations. I returned to the U.S. in late 2024 for family reasons and spent a year as an investigative reporter for NPR’s Midwest Newsroom, a role that required me to focus on audio and text. While I enjoyed developing those skills, as well as my investigative reporting, I have returned to preferred medium of video.
Versatility acquired by working across media and across continents enables me to effectively collect raw video material and produce secondary and tertiary outputs for print, broadcast and social media while handling every stage in the process, from pitch to publication. While I have worked on many stories as part of a team, I am presenting here projects on which I worked alone or the elements for which I was primarily responsible.
