In March of 2005 I was given the opportunity to follow a fact-finding delegation through Israel and the West Bank for The Daily Iowan, the student-run newspaper of the University of Iowa. The week-long foray into international correspondence was equally humbling and intoxicating. In my opinion, there is no issue more important, and therefore no issue in greater need of quality information, than foreign policy. While in Israel, I realized that reporting in a place as complex as that one is extremely difficult. It was then I also realized that I was more compelled than ever to do it and do it well.
